The robot is under development at the laboratory for Robotics and Mechatronics at the University of Twente where research and development in service robotics is carried out in the LEO centre for service robotics. The lab is part of the CTIT institute.

PIRATE robot at the RapidPro

The 3D printed robot has been shown at the RapidPro, a fair for rapid prototyping and product development, March 3-5 in Veldhoven. University of Twente is currently developing and researching 3D print technology, but also utilizing it for rapid development cycles such as being deployed in the PIRATE development project.
